Today we’ll discuss the question “what is artificial emotional intelligence and how can incorporating it into real-time recommender systems transform client engagement in financial and telecommunications services?” We’ll start by discussing some philosophical issues regarding the nature of emotions and emotional intelligence and its potential role in recommender systems. Next, we’ll consider what we can learn from cognitive and behavioral sciences that might help us design systems with artificial emotional intelligence. We’ll briefly review existing research into and applications of systems with artificial emotional intelligence. We’ll also discuss some practical opportunities for and challenges of integrating artificial emotional intelligence into real-time recommender systems. We’ll end with a consideration of how we might evaluate the business impact of applications of recommender systems with artificial emotional intelligence in financial and telecommunications services.
